Description

In these small group workshops led by photographer & photobook maker Joseph Wright you will learn how to create beautiful, simple to make, hand bound books. These books are perfect for anyone who would like a simple method to bring together a collection of images and present in bound form. A selection of book making materials and all required tools will be supplied, all you need to bring are the prints you want to bind into a book. A full set of workshop preparation notes will be provided in advance.

1 Day workshop – Sat 4th August ’18

  • During the workshop you’ll make your own Japanese style stab/stitch bound book, plus bind and keep a copy of one of Joseph’s titles. A form perfectly suited to presenting a body of work, which can be easily reassembled to change the materials and image sequence.
  • All stages of the process will be covered, from concept to print, including picture editing/sequencing, materials selection and sourcing, with plenty of time for discussion.
  • We’ll use readily available tools, materials and simple technique, so you can repeat the process at home or in your studio.

2 Day workshop – Sat 4th & Sunday 5th August ’18

  • This workshop will be a continuation of the previous 1 day workshop.
  • We will explore a number of glue bound spine book forms. A solid spine mimicking a traditional case bound book and two variations on a concertina construction. All these book forms provide lay flat pages and are highly customisable to suit your needs.
  • By the end of the second day you will have created at least two books and be familiar with the tools, materials and basic book construction processes to have the confidence to make many more simple book forms.
